Suburban Horror: Cool, let's get started, I'll make sure I cover your aim name.
Miles Logan: hahaha ok cool seems like if people want to get it they will find a way.
SH: People are fuckin crazy, you had anyone stalk you guys yet?
ML: Yeah, some weird shit; type "Miles Jump Rope" in search for youtube.com and see a creep video just cause the camera is sideways and behind me while I jump rope.
SH: So someone just video taped you and put it on the internet?
ML: Yeah, some kid found it and told me about it I guess he was looking for park videos and saw it.
SH: That's pretty funny. You guys have some pretty loyal fans, making cakes with Park logos and what not?
ML: Yeah, it is actually, I told everyone about it. Yeah, some awesome friends we have made at shows
SH: So speaking of videos, what was with the video on your myspace with you shaving your head?
ML: We were bored at a friends house one night and had a video camera and just thought it would be funny we were all supposed to do it but Ladd didn't want to shave cause he had a mean beard growing.
SH: Plus he's already bald.
ML: hahahaha, yeah me to pretty much.
SH: So the new record, originally was called "Building A Better Pirate" right?
ML: Yeah.
SH: What made you guys change it to "Building A Better _______"?
ML: Well we got a lot of shit for it, cause pirates are so trendy or whatever people think. I think people would have had the wrong idea thinking we wanted to be pirates. Some people were not stoked on the name, it really had no meaning and they looked into it way to much. But I think now everyone is happy with the album title and it actually can be what ever you want it to be.
SH: Was Ladd ever in the navy? Every record of your has some reference to sailors, and doesn't Ladd also have some kind of ship tattoo?
ML: Yes, he has a guy walking a plank off a pirate ship. He just likes nautical stuff I guess and ref it a lot. but he was never in the navy.
SH: So Park seems to have the "Spinal Tap Curse" with a new bass player on every record. This record you guys got a new guitarist, what happened with Jansen and Jensen?
ML: Jansen and Justin. Justin went to medical school and Jansen was out before we recorded. Alex is on the new record.
SH: Justin that's right, I thought Jensen and Jansen sounded too make believe. How are the new guys working out?
ML: Awesome, things really have just fallen into place for the band and the new members I think.
SH: It shows on the new record, was this the first time you guys "charted"?
ML: Um I guess so I don't really pay attention. I know when no signal came out it did well on college radio charts but that's it. I am guessing you are talking about indie billboard charts?
SH: Yeah, a lot of people, publicists, fans, labels etc are amazed you guys are still kind of under the radar, how does it feel to know people are finally starting to take notice?
ML: Feels great, kinda feels good to be so under the radar sometimes, too; just glad everything has happened the way it has. We are working our way up.
SH: So maybe I'm wrong, but you've never made a video right, like an official video?
ML: Not really, we are working on that. We hope to have something next year. We are also going to be self releasing a double DVD early next year.
SH: So how do you feel about Ladd's solo stuff? Do any of the rest of you have side projects?
ML: No one else has side projects. I love Ladd's solo stuff. Sometimes I hear his solo stuff and try to turn it into park songs cause I like it so much. One song I did that to was a message. It was just an acoustic song and I was being nosey on Ladd's 8 track and fell in love with the song. Ladd was like "No, its not a park song", and I was like "Let me write a beat to it", and the rest is history.
SH: So is that why you did an acoustic version of it on the record?
ML: Yeah I guess so, but even that is totally different from how he originally had it.
SH: I know Ladd is all about not playing "Untitled" off of No Signal, do you guys have any feelings about it? I know a lot of fans love it.
ML: We have played it a lot, well not a lot, but he doesn't have that big of a problem playing it. Just has to tune the guitar down and stuff and we don't always have time for an acoustic song in our set. If you get to see us headline sometime just ask for a song and we'll do our best to play it cause that's how we roll.
SH: I wanted Wreck Simple and it didn't happen, maybe cuz I called it "Break Simple".
ML: hahaha, well we can play both of those songs, breakneck speed, and wreck simple.
SH: So being in Park as long as you have, what do you want from Park? Why do you still do this as long as you have? (Both songs are rad!)
ML: Well I really believe in Ladd, he is really PARK. I want to help him get noticed. I deal with all the business for the band and he does all the music, we work well together. I love what I do and love traveling. I couldn't imagine doing anything else right now. Well I gotta get going, anything else you would like to ask before I get going?
SH: If you could tell everyone in the world one thing about Park what would it be?
ML: Honest Rock music with no filler, from the heart, no looks necessary. Sorry that's 3 things.
SH: No looks necessary, that's funny. Well thanks a lot, hope it was fun, I enjoyed the AIM interview and I'll see you guys in November.
ML: Sounds good, we are all looking foward to this tour.
SH: I'll have beer and candy ready for all.
ML: See you soon, sounds good.
SH: Awesome, have a good night, thanks again.
ML: Anytime.
