As far as grindcore goes A Second From The Surface still have a bit to learn, but with the release of their album "The Streets Have Eyes" it's apparent that they're in the grindcore/metal game. With guitars a little more prominent than I've experienced with other grindcore bands, ASFTS just adds a new layer to an old genre. And with songs longer than many typical grindcore songs "The Streets Have Eyes" still proves to be an album worthy of the grindcore label.

The lyrics remain strong throughout the album, the title track of the album, almost more of a metal rock song than anything, remains a favourite. The vocals are impressive and different from many other metal bands on the market. The music is a bit more rhythmical than typical grindcore giving the band something to distinguish themselves with but still full of blast beats and good riffs.

I found myself unexpectedly rocking out to a genre that I don't listen to as much as I should, so hats off to ASFTS for some good music and an impressive album.
