 | Bad Brains Live At CBGBs 1982 Music Video Distributors 8 out of 10 Band Website
The audio and visual quality on this dvd are about as good as its going to
get considering the type of club, type of music, and the fact that it was
1982. The DVD itself does not have too many extras on it aside from tons of
live songs which were taken from a 3 night series of hardcore music at CBGB
which featured Bad Brains. Extras include interviews from only 2 different
fans and one bonus audio track which is a reggae tune. The live
performances showcase 19 songs which are all hardcore except for 4
absolutely classic reggae tunes. This DVD is a must have for Bad Brains
fans or fans of hardcore or reggae music. I still can't get over how
bizzarre this group was. The fact that a bunch of rastafarians started the
hardcore movement blows my mind. On top of that, almost every great band
that has enlightened people over the years has been inspired by Bad Brains
in one way or another. After more than 20 years, if you go to a hardcore
club, there are still kids playing the same music, and doing the same
dancing/moshing, and wearing the same clothes. This window of the past
looks a lot like present day. I cannot say enough good things about this
band. The great thing about this dvd is that if you are in your twenties
right now, you were probably too young to ever see Bad Brains play live, so
this lets you see what others have raved about for so many years. Watching
them perform live lets you see just how gritty H.R. was only vocals, and how
versitile this band was when leaping genres during their sets. One very
entertaining aspect of this dvd is the fans. Some of these people are so
wierd, you can't tell if they are crazy or stoned, pissed off or just having
fun, male or female, etc. I can turn on the dvd anytime when I am bored and
just crack up at the sights or get psyched on the sounds.
