Okay, so besides the use of the synthesizer, there really is nothing that screams "NuWave" about Mahteo latest release, it's not even a bit nu-metal. However, what is undeniable is that Mahteo is taking noise rock, Indie rock, and a teensy tiny bit of New Wave to make music that strikes the listener as something new altogether. Despite being five songs long, "The NuWave Republic" is poised to make the band famous longer than the approximate 15 minutes that the album lasts.

With its electronica explosion, "Montreal" controls the chaos with its interesting juxtaposition of what seems to be unharmonious sounds. The high pitched "whines" of the synthesizer jolt the listener's attention, keeping them captivated throughout all the melodic twists and turns. Although the beginning of "Ahi Te Encontrare" starts out on a haunting tone, it evolves into an emotion-invoking journey narrated in the original Latin language of love, Spanish. "To Manifest Like Breath" may sound like melody is in loops, but unexpected musical elements are added throughout the song to make it not monotonous and unique.

Keep your eye on these Indie rockers. "The NuWave Republic" is something new indeed, and hopefully, there is more from Mahteo to come.
