 | No Use For A Name The Feel Good Record Of The Year Fat Wreck Chords 8.5 out of 10 Band Website
You know why No Use For A Name's latest record is entitled "The Feel Good Record Of The Year?" because (thank god) it sounds NOTHING like "Keep Them Confused"! This San Jose based quartet has been a favorite of mine for at least 10 years now, "Leche Con Carne" was part of my high school "soundtrack", when people turned their backs after the brilliant 1999 release "More Betterness" because it was "an emo record" I stuck around and they continued to rock, and rock hard until "Keep Them Confused", which they did, I was confused as to what the fuck they were thinking with that record, but now, now we can rejoice because the 'feel good record' of the year has arrived.
No Use has a knack for writing catchy, fun, pop punk songs, and this album is no exception. Record at the Blasting Room in Ft. Collins, CO with legendary producer Bill Stevenson (Descendents, Black Flag, Only Crime) this album is quite possibly the best NUFAN record to date. Not only musically, but the lyrics and production quality are much better than previous efforts, and those were pretty amazing as well.
Long story short, 14 tracks, or palm muting, stop and go, sing-a-long pop punk that's fun for the whole family. If No Use For A Name ever had hopes of making it to radio or music television, this is their meal ticket, unless they some how manage to unleash another phenominal album in 2 years. This album is truly a testament to the staying power of NUFAN.
